While the previous tab tells you about where the water comes from and how it is treated, below is a diagram of the water table in which we obtain the water. West Tennessee is unique in that the water we use comes from the water table.
The water table is the area below the surface of the ground where rainwater is collected.
Water Treatment Plant
Middle and East Tennessee residents get the water they use from lakes and rivers. Their water has been much more chemically treated than ours.
Bolivar Utility is part of the Mississippi Aquifer region. Bolivar in particular obtains its water at the deepest level of the Mississippi Aquifer region. This means in the unlikely event of a water shortage, we would be the last area to run out of our water source.
