Water Conservation

The Bolivar Utility Department strives to be an exceptional service provider for the citizens of Bolivar and Hardeman County. As part of our dedication to you, we are sharing water conservation tips as part of our awareness campaigns. Water conservation is not only good for our environment and the legacy we leave for our children, but it is also a great way to put money back into your own wallet. These quick tips can help you save hundreds of gallons of water which, in turn, saves you money on your water and sewer bill.

  1. Peel and clean vegetables in a large bowl of water instead of using a constant stream of running water.

  2. Fill your sink basin when washing and rinsing dishes. Do not allow water to run continuously for rinsing.

  3. Only operate your dishwasher when it is full.

  4. When purchasing a dishwasher, select one with a light wash option.

  5. Turn off the water when brushing your teeth.

You can save 3 or 4 gallons of water per person per day by turning the water off when brushing your teeth. That's more than 1,000 gallons of water per year.

We hope this article helps you to become more aware of your every day usage. Keep an eye out for additional tips in the coming weeks and months. Be sure to check out our Facebook page for educational posts and tons of tips and tricks to save your money.
